The first coffee in the world produced with Yara Climate Choice™ Fertilizers by passionate, empowered women pioneers in the decarbonization of Colombian coffee farming.
From Huila, Colombia, 100 women coffee growers led a unique project that positions the country as a pioneer in the sustainable coffee production grown for the first time in the world with Yara Climate Choice™ Fertilizers** produced with renewable energy, reaffirming Yara’s commitment to innovation and agricultural empowerment.
**Yara Climate ChoiceTM renewable-based lower carbon fertilizers are nitrate-based fertilizers produced using N2O catalytic abatement and renewable ammonia, with a reduced carbon footprint by up to 95% compared to the same Yara fertilizer produced from natural gas (the actual percentage depending on the product’s nitrogen content).

Thanks to the alliance between SKN Caribecafé and Yara, this coffee marks a milestone in the decarbonization of coffee growing.
In 2022, Yara, in partnership with SKN Caribecafé and with the support of Caritas Norway, launched an ambitious project to promote sustainable and pioneering regenerative agriculture practices within Colombian coffee farming. As a result of this effort, the first coffee beans with a reduced carbon footprint were harvested in 2024.
This coffee is an invitation to the entire coffee value chain to work together to make decisions that reduce environmental impact and continue Growing a Nature-Positive Food Future.
